Fuck the wagon!

27 days, 12 hours and 14 minutes on the wagon comes to an end. And it never tasted so good!

If you can't see the problem, you become part of it....

So, a late, late RVP strike saves us from yet more away day blues, salvaging a 1-1 draw at Everon.

I only caught it on MOTD when I got back from training, and the highlights didn't make us look to bad. I say make us because I recieved several texts during the game saying that we were shite, jittery at the back and lacking creative ability apart from the occasional glimmer from RVP and Nasri. And I've been at several matches where we've dominated apart from 2 nothing shots from our opponents, which MOTD have managed twist into pivotal points of the game, so you take it with a pinch of salt.

But there are some serious problems at Arsenal at the moment. The team is missing a defensive leader at the back, a ball-winning midfielder and with Cesc, Theo and the permanently-injured Rosicky out we're left with Song, Eboue and Diaby (who occasionally has a decent game, but not consistently enough) to provide that spark. Trouble is the manager thinks this is fine, super, not a problem, I'm good thanks how are you?

Now this worries me, its like the end of the George Graham era, when after buying such quality players as Limpar, Schwartz, Wright and Smith he ended up brining in Kiwombia, Jensen, McGoldrick, Helder etc, and kept playing them because he "thought they could do a job". He'd gone stale and I fear the same may be happening to Wenger. As I said in the title, If you can't see the problem, you become part of it.
But maybe his hands are being tied by the board, a lack of funds dictating matters at AG, and Wenger is having to tow the line while looking like he's trying to sign players to keep the supporters happy? Its a dangerous game if he is.....

Update: It seems he may be doing something about the creativity, after things looked dead in the water the Arshavin deal may be completed soon

I'm not sure if the glass is half full, half empty, or even still on the table with regards to last night. On Monday I'd have been happy with a point at Goodison, and at 21:50 I was ok with a point in a game we had been 60 seconds away from losing. However Villa's win on Tuesday mean's that the gap is now 5 points, and I'm starting to feel more like 4th place is theirs to lose.

All a bit depressing this morning really! On the plus side, I'm only 14 hours and 41 minutes away from being able to drink again. Hmm, so I set an alarm for midnight and tuck into the Stellas in the fridge or not.......

Everton away

I keep having a conversation in my head about tonight:

"Everton away. We're fucked"

"Why? We've not lost in 8 games now"

"Indeed, but we've not exactly been great have we. I mean there's been plenty of late goals, few consistent spells of creativity and the defence looks more nervous that an IBS sufferer at a fireworks display after a vindaloo!"

"Er, yeah, but Everton only have one striker"

"Yes, but they have Cahill and that screech-look-a-like bloke and keep scoring from crosses and set pieces."

"Yeah, and your point? RVP is bang on form at the moment so as long as we keep it tight at the back...."

"WE CAN'T DEFEND CROSSES AND SET PIECES! And I haven't even mentioned Arteta yet!"

"Ahhhh, I see. Yeah, we're fucked"

I can't get the image of that Fellaini bloke, or whatever his name is, nodding one in off his giant barnet with 5 mins to go in the pissing rain to make it 2-1 Everton out of my head. A preminition? I hope not. With Villa winning 1-0 at Pompey last night with their only shot of the game (when, oh when will their luck run out!!) the pressure is back on us to respond with a win. It's not on Sky or Sultana, but I have training anyway tonight so will rely on the old man to text me updates.

Please Arsene, please, for the love of God, Allah and Chuck Norris leave Song and Eboue on the bench. Or better still, back in London.......

In other news I can't beat my top score on my powerball at the moment and seem to be stuck on 11872rpm, and I'm less than 48 hours from climbing off the wagon!

38 hours and 51 minutes to be precise. Not that I'm counting.....

Allez Arsenal!

Initial thoughts.........

Erm, so, yeah, blogging. Thought I'd give it a shot! Don't expect too much from this, will probably peeter out like most fads.

I Probably should be working but Tuesday afternoons seem to drag, bit like an Arsenal transfer (still waiting on Arshavin)

Oh, speaking of which, this is from Sky sports:

14.02 Arsene Wenger declared the on-going Andrei Arshavin transfer saga was "of little interest" as he focuses on getting the best out of his current Arsenal squad of Wednesday's trip to Everton.

Well, thats probably not happening then, is it! Personally I think we're buggered at Everton anyway. We looked shaky at the back against Cardiff (Cardiff!!!!!) so I hate to think how many a team that specialises from scoring from crosses/set pieces will score. And I can't see how bringing Denilson back is going to help our attacking creativity either!

In other news, I've been on the wagon since 12:01am on Sunday 4th January and am now just 3 days away from breaking my fast, I can't f**king wait!

That first beer is going to taste so good!

I also use exclamation marks too much.....
